The Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, chaired today, Sunday, a meeting dedicated to discussing the completion of the unified treasury account, the follow-up of the electronic payment system and the payment points with electronic cards / POS, in the presence of the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank, the President of the Federal Financial Supervision Bureau, a number of advisers, and the general managers of a number of government banks.
The meeting witnessed the presentation and follow-up of the implementation of the unified treasury account, the level of progress in the application and dissemination of the electronic card payment system, and the discussion of the challenges facing public and private sector institutions, and electronic payment companies.
The facilities and incentives that can be provided to citizens and users were also reviewed, with the aim of encouraging, in addition to the overall measures taken and the percentages of progress, and the necessary requirements for completion, as he stressed the need to give priority to the goal of encouraging the government sector, and diagnosis of deficient or lagging parties.
During the meeting, the report containing a number of recommendations was also approved, and it was decided to present it to the Council of Ministers.
Mr. Al-Sudani directed to activate the work and functions of the Payments Council at the Central Bank, and the importance of submitting a final report on the completion to be presented to the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
On the side of completing the unified treasury account, the Prime Minister directed to emphasize on all ministries to implement the fourth paragraph of the Council of Ministers’ resolution (3581 of 2023), and the need to expedite the formation of committees and analyze the non-moving bank accounts for each of them, within one month.
