CandyKisses: Patriarch Sako warns of “a tsunami that may sweep away everyone”
Louis Raphaël I Sako Louis Raphaël I Sako (; born 4 July 1948) is a Chaldean Catholic prelate who has served as Patriarch of Baghdad since 1 February 2013. Pope Francis made him a cardinal on 28 June 2018.
His Beatitude Patriarch Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako, on Sunday, called for calm and for a national dialogue to remedy the blockage of the political horizon.
Sacco said in a statement, “The country is on a hot plate, due to the blockage of the political horizon, and the unemployed and the poor to demonstrate,” noting that “the scene is frightening and cannot bear delay, so the political poles in particular and the religious authorities must remedy the matter before a tsunami may sweep everyone away.”
He added, “It is imperative to read the situation in depth, evaluate it seriously, and not misread. Politicians should acknowledge the failure of the sectarian and quota approach that brought corruption and injustice, and realize that stubbornness and defamation is not a solution.
They must carefully review their accounts and make concessions in order to save the country by initiating a dialogue.” A fraternal and responsible national spirit to find an effective new political approach that builds the state and serves the people, not a specific group.
He continued, “These demonstrations showed high discipline in peace, avoided violence, and protected state property, as well as the gains made by the current government in creating an environment conducive to building the state at the internal and external levels, which is the cornerstone of dialogue in order to find a solution that achieves peace, stability and prosperity for citizens.”

CandyKisses: The New York Times: Oil prices may rise to $200 a barrel
The New York Times warned that the situation is about to take a turn for the worse, as new sanctions that the European Union and Britain have agreed to impose on Russia by the end of the year are likely to push up oil prices
The newspaper wrote that the United States and its allies had relied heavily on imposing economic sanctions to punish Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. But it seems that a key element in that strategy, the restrictions on Russian oil exports, often causes hardship and harm to ordinary people in other countries
European countries, in particular, have caused massive damage to their economies without reducing Russian oil revenues
The newspaper stressed that the countries seeking to help Ukraine are aiming at the wrong goal, that is, by focusing on reducing Russian energy exports rather than reducing its export profits, as Russia exports less oil, but in the opposite way, it makes more money, according to the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air in Finland. Sanctions raised prices more than offsetting the decline in exports. In May 2022, Russia earned €883 million per day from oil exports, up from €633 million per day in May 2021

Some analysts warn that the price of a barrel of oil may exceed $200, which could easily push Western economies into recession
