{Economic: Euphrates News} World Bank President Ajay Panga warned that the war between Israel and Hamas could deal a serious blow to global economic development.
“I think what happened recently in Israel and Gaza will have a more serious impact on economic development,” Banga said at an investor conference in Saudi Arabia, adding: “I think we are at a very dangerous juncture.”
The Gaza Strip has been under Israeli land, sea and air bombardment since Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7.
The “Al-Aqsa Flood” was met with Israel’s “Iron Swords,” in which the Israeli military is launching raids on the Gaza Strip. The death toll from the Israeli bombing reached 5,300 martyrs and 18,000 wounded in the Strip.
On the Israeli side, more than 1,400 people were killed, including 308 among officers and soldiers, while Hamas captured more than 200 Israelis.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk called for an immediate humanitarian truce in Gaza, calling on leaders to make “courageous choices.”
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, said the organization is expressing concern about the health and well-being of civilians in the Gaza Strip following the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
