AI Strategy Meeting at Iraq’s Ministry of Planning iraq-businessnews

Iraq’s Ministry of Planning has held an expanded meeting to discuss the country’s artificial intelligence strategy, focusing on the development of measurable and achievable objectives aligned with Iraq’s capabilities and ambitions in the field.

Key topics included:

  • Refining the strategy’s goals to meet Ministry of Planning standards
  • Mechanisms for establishing a sovereign national language model (Iraq LLM)
  • AI infrastructure, encompassing local physical servers and cloud servers provided by the Information Technology Department

The meeting was chaired by the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Technical Affairs, Dr Maher Hammad Johan, and attended by the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Artificial Intelligence, Dr Diaa Al-Jumaili, as well as Abbas Abd Al-Kazim, Director General of the Information Technology Department at the Central Statistical Organisation.

Members of the relevant committee from the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence, attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, also participated, alongside a number of ministry officials and experts.
