A Parliamentarian Wrongly Signals The Economic System: The Same Was The Case In Saddam’s Era

Pratha News Agency36 2020-10-09  A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Ahmed Al-Saffar, confirmed, on Friday, that the current economic and financial system does not fit with the new reality of the country, holding the Ministries of Finance and Planning responsible for carrying out economic reforms.

Al-Saffar said in a press interview that “in light of the regime, the economic and financial policies have been adopted, and as a result of the lack of clarity of this system in Iraq and its incompatibility with the new reality, the financial policy is still at a standstill.”

Noting that “all previous budgets were just copy and paste from the previous one and the only change was in the numbers, which is not correct.”

Al-Saffar added, “The tax laws adopted now are the same as those adopted in the previous system, in the sixties, seventies and eighties, when the state was running according to a centralized socialist system that was completely controlled by the state.”

He pointed out that “things have changed now, as a free and decentralized economy and a federal parliamentary system are announced, and at the same time, they do not allow the private sector to participate in an unclear fallacy.”

He pointed out that “it is unreasonable for the state to come every year and work to increase appointments to the public and government sectors and constitute greater burdens on the country’s budget, and at the same time, the new young energy cannot be used in investment projects, but rather remains sitting without work or productivity without It opens the door strongly to the private sector in order to absorb these capabilities and young energies. ” ttp://burathanews.com/arabic/economic/378110

According to experts, oil consumption will increase correspondingly in developing countries, due to population growth, and possibly more dynamic economic development, and an increase in the middle class.

Consequently, they expect an increase in oil demand of 74.3 million barrels per day for these countries by 2045, as India will become the largest importer of energy resources.

At the same time, OPEC generally expects an increase in oil consumption from 99.7 million barrels per day from 2019 to 109.3 million barrels per day in 2040.   http://burathanews.com/arabic/economic/378085
