Summarizing today from various reporters:
After a chaotic start to Parliament today, Abadi dodged water bottles as he removed himself to other chambers, Constitutional Hall, followed by some 181 MP’s, absent the rebels, to whom he presented a list of new ministers.
Six were affirmed by vote of the ” legitimate ” parliament and outside the presence of the sitting protesting MP’s in parliament.
They were Hasan Janabi – Water, Wafa Mahdawi – Labour, Alaa Ghani – Health, Alaa Dishr – Electricity, Abdulrazaq al-Eisa – Higher Ed and Akeel Mahdi – Culture. Shahristani was ousted.
Still remain to be voted on: Foreign, Finance, Oil, Justice, Education, Transport, Communications, Youth, Industry, Housing, and Planning.
Likely hard decisions to come on powerful ministries like oil, finance, and foreign.
Session adjourned to Thursday.
More voting on ministers expected then.
Iraq’s Oil Minister, Adil Abd al-Mahdi, says he insists on resigning, even though PM Abadi wants him to stay.
