DNO Sees Long-Term Oil Production in Kurdistan Licences iraq-businessnews

DNO has outlined the licence timelines and expected production outlook for its development and production assets in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

In its recently-issued Annual Report for 2025, the company said the Tawke licence is due to expire in 2026, but includes an automatic five-year extension option that would extend the term to 2031. If commercial production remains viable at the end of that period, DNO may request a further five-year extension from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), potentially extending the licence to 2036.

Based on its current assessments, DNO expects production from the Tawke licence to remain commercially viable throughout the contractual term and any subsequent extensions.

In the Baeshiqa licence, the contractor declared commerciality on 1 August 2021, bringing the exploration phase to an end and moving the project into the development stage under the production-sharing contract. This development period has a duration of 20 years.

If commercial production remains possible at the end of that period, DNO would be entitled to request an additional five-year extension.
