Iran to become Middle East oil hub
Iran will be transformed into a hub for production and supply of oil and gas equipment in partnership with foreign firms, announced an official from Oil Industry Equipment Producing Association.
According to Mehr News Agency, Head of the association’s Board of Directors Reza Khiamian pointed to the talks with European and North American counterparts saying, “A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been sealed between Iranian and Italian equipment producing associations.”
He underlined that leading companies such as Eni S.p.A. and Saipem are members of the Italian association stating “an Italian delegation will soon visit Tehran”.
Khiamian listed the main objectives of the MoU between Iran and Italy as “knowledge and technology transfer, establishment of a production line for manufacturing advanced industrial equipment as well as investment attraction”.
The two sides, he added, are now able to run join developmental projects in the upstream section of Iran’s oil, gas and even petrochemical industries.
The official also reported on talks with Canadian oil equipment producers adding, “In addition to the North American country, negotiations have also been held with European states such as France and Germany”.
Khiamian recalled, “During the talks with European and North American companies and associations, certain proposals were made for supplying goods and equipment used in oil-rich countries in the Middle East like Iraq. Given the existence of industrial infrastructures in the country’s oil industry, Iran can turn into a new hub for production and supply of various equipment for oil and gas industries in collaboration with foreign companies.”
