Iraq Allocates $340m to Support Farmers Iraq-Businessnews

Iraq’s Minister of Trade Dr Atheer Daoud al-Ghurairi has announced the approval of Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani to allocate 500 billion Iraqi dinars [≈ $340 million] in support of farmers across all provinces. The initiative aims to strengthen the agricultural sector and enhance national food security.

According to a ministry statement, Haider al-Gurawi, Director General of the General Company for Grain Trade, confirmed that the company will coordinate with relevant authorities to implement transparent and fair mechanisms for distributing the funds to eligible farmers nationwide.

The Ministry of Trade described the allocation as a significant step to build farmers’ confidence in state programmes, encourage increased production, and expand cultivated areas, thereby promoting self-sufficiency and ensuring stability in the domestic market.

Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in Iraq on 11th November.
