The Ministry of Planning is finalising a five-year development plan in cooperation with the World Food Programme (WFP), aligning future activities with Iraq’s national development priorities.
The plan, which has reached its final stages ahead of formal approval, was discussed during a meeting between senior ministry officials and WFP representatives.
Key areas of cooperation include:
- Food security programmes targeting vulnerable groups
- Alignment with Iraq’s national development strategy
- Integration of environmental and climate-related initiatives
The discussions also covered joint projects with the Green Climate Fund (GCF), aimed at strengthening the link between development and environmental sustainability, and supporting Iraq’s response to climate challenges.
Officials said the plan reflects a coordinated approach to advancing sustainable development and improving socio-economic outcomes.
