Iraq Completes Xylene and Solvent Production Project:
The State Company for Mining Industries, part of Iraq’s Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has announced the completion of a new project to produce xylene, solvents, and high-quality refined fuel, in partnership with the private sector.
Director General Eng. Mohammed Qasim Muftin said the fully completed project includes six integrated production units from leading international manufacturers, along with a modern laboratory equipped to ensure global quality compliance.
The facility will produce industrial solvents – including xylene (44 m³/day), solvent blends (85 m³/day), and improved gasoline (470 m³/day) – as well as thinner and other materials used in resin and paint industries.
The project depends on 750 m³/day of naphtha as a feedstock, with operations currently pending allocation from the Ministry of Oil to begin pilot and full-scale production.
