Discussions have been held on economic reforms and support for development projects in Iraq.
The meeting took place between Minister of Finance Taif Sami Mohammed and a delegation from the World Bank, focusing on cooperation to support the government’s reform programme and expand major development projects nationwide.
Key points discussed included:
- Improving the investment environment through streamlined financial and banking procedures
- Strengthening partnerships with international institutions to support sustainable development
- Activating the role of the private sector through technical and financial support
- Job creation and infrastructure modernisation
- Boosting non-oil revenues through automation of tax and customs systems
- Enhancing public treasury resources and long-term financial stability
The Minister emphasised the importance of empowering the private sector as a strategic objective and highlighted efforts to stimulate productive and industrial sectors to reduce reliance on imports. The discussions also covered structural reforms aimed at diversifying national income sources and improving transparency and financial efficiency.
