The Council of Ministers has approved the imposition of an additional 40 percent customs duty on imports of nitrogen gas from all countries. The measure is intended to regulate industrial gas imports and protect domestic production.
The decision is based on the Law on the Protection of Iraqi Products (No. 11 of 2010) and will apply for a period of four years without reduction.
Implementation will begin 120 days from the date of issuance.
