The Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has confirmed the results of the investigation into the 26 November drone attack on the Khor Mor gas field in Sulaymaniyah.
Chaired by the Minister of Interior and involving federal and Kurdistan Region security agencies, the committee reported that the attack was conducted using two drones launched from the southeast of Tuz Khurmatu. One drone struck the field while the other fell outside it. This was the eleventh attack from the same area.
Investigators identified the perpetrators as outlaws, some already subject to judicial arrest warrants. Security forces have begun gathering technical evidence to support prosecutions.
The committee recommended enhanced protection measures for the field, including redeploying security forces in East Salah al-Din, replacing local commanders, strengthening intelligence coordination between Baghdad and Erbil, installing air-defence systems, tightening controls on drone use, and forming a joint committee with the judiciary to follow up on the case.
The investigation remains ongoing to ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
