Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) announced today, Sunday (October 12, 2025), a decisive blow against remnants of the banned Ba’ath Party, confirming the arrest of 135 individuals across 14 provinces. The operation, which involved meticulous intelligence work spanning three months, targeted covert networks attempting to restructure the defunct party.
The INSS revealed that the arrested individuals were apprehended under judicial warrants issued according to Article 8/First of the Law Prohibiting the Ba’ath Party. Investigations exposed that these secret cells were linked to external entities aiming to revitalize the collapsed organization and recruit young Iraqis under deceptive pretenses via social media platforms.
Furthermore, the intelligence operation successfully monitored electronic activities dedicated to spreading outdated Ba’athist ideology. The INSS noted that these groups engaged in systematic campaigns of misinformation and propaganda aimed at undermining national security, which were dealt with according to the law. The operation underscores the Iraqi government’s proactive efforts to safeguard the nation’s security and stability against subversive groups.
