Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and the newly appointed Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq, Joshua Harris, discussed on Saturday regional developments, important international issues, and shared interests.
During their meeting in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, the two sides reviewed strategies to promote regional stability, reduce tensions, end ongoing conflicts, and prevent violence from escalating, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The prime minister highlighted the importance of the strategic relationship between Iraq and the United States, as well as the need to deepen joint coordination and promote cooperation in different sectors to serve the interests of the two countries.
The US Embassy in Baghdad mentioned last week that Harris looks forward to working closely with Iraqi partners and US teams in Baghdad and Erbil to advance the strong US-Iraq partnership and promote US objectives in this critical relationship.
The embassy said on X, formerly Twitter, that Harris discussed with al-Sudani opportunities to advance the strong US-Iraq partnership and to promote shared interests, including safeguarding Iraq’s sovereignty, bolstering regional security, and strengthening economic ties to deliver tangible benefits for Americans and Iraqis.
