France sends Charles de Gaulle Carrier to support its operations in Syria and Iraq
The French government announced on Thursday sending the aircraft carrier (Charles de Gaulle) to strengthen its military operations in Iraq and Syria, indicating that the decision came after a meeting of officials of the Ministry of Defense.
The French Presidency said in a statement followed by IraqinNews.com “We will deploy the aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” to participate in military operations against ISIS in Iraq and Syria,” asserting that “This decision came after a meeting of the officials of the Ministry of Defense.”
The statement added that “Paris supports a political transition in Syria, but Bashar al-Assad cannot be a part of it in the future.”
Noteworthy, France has begun to launch air strikes against ISIS militants in Syria during the month of October, after a year of bombing ISIS sites in Iraq.
