Samson: Iranian oil minister to visit Iraq next week
1st January, 2017
Iranian oil minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh will pay an official visit to Iraq next week to discuss matters pertaining to oil and gas cooperation between the two countries.
Fars News Agency reported that the two sides will discuss the future of the oil market and the roles of Iran and Iraq in OPEC.
It added that Zangeneh will discuss the bartership of Kurdish oil through Iran and building an oil pipeline from Sualimaniya province (north east of Iraq) to the Iranian territories.
i
“Basra oil pipeline to Iranian Abadan refinery shall be discussed and the opposite-direction of the pipe to deliver the oil products from Abadan to Basra”, the agency added.
It is expected that the question of exporting Iranian gas to Baghdad will be discussed due to financial payments’ problems between the two sides.
The financial problems included not determining the bank where the Iranian money shall be transferred to, as well as the currency for the settlement of the payments.
Iran, according to the contract, was supposed to provide Iraq with 25 million cubic meters of gas daily for its energy stations in the Iraqi capital.
