Islandg1211: I’ve had to think about replying to the question of whether the urgency to fix the Mosul Dam was because Obama doesn’t want it to collapse on his watch. I hadn’t thought of that, and at first thought it was too political to respond to. But, actually I think it’s a fair question.
Let’s look at what Obama has done: Obamacare, Leave Iraq, attempted to leave Afghanistan, close Gettmo. pretend terrorism had been eradicated by him. Let’s look at what he hasn’t done: everything else, including foreign policy, the economy, unemployment, debt. As the WSJ pointed out, “he’s checked out.” I actually don’t agrue with that. He’s done exactly what he wanted to do, and was never engaged in anything else.
I don’t think he ever “checked in” on issues he hadn’t promised in his campaign. This does indicate his agenda and what is important to him. Doodles makes a point. Obama would not want the Mosul Dam breaking and killing hundreds of thousands under his watch when he was the one that pulled the troops out. Given his pattern, he is self motivated, so yes, he has an urgency to repair the Dam.
My point, that the PTB (I wasn’t including Obama) need their money before the dam breaks. They need the RV, asset back currencies, trade, and have now taken control of Iraq to get their RV and rebuild Iraq. The dam breaking would delay the money and business they are expecting and have planned for. The urgency for them is about money.
The US/Bush/UN urgency is to get the original deal they always wanted. Bush should have made his requirements being completed and implemented as a pre-requisite of troop withdrawal in his SOFA treaty.
My posts prior to 2012/2013 pointed this out. Namely, that Bush wanted a military base, the Amnesty Law, the HCL, and a fully seated government. Nobody noticed the articles that came out today that touched on all of these old US requirements.
The location of a base between Mosul and Erbil was disclosed in one article, Sadre’s call for the citizens’ oil profit money, Abadi’s push for a fully seated government, and the needed Amnesty and HCL laws nearing completion.
There is an urgency to get all of this completed before the Dam breaks.
Without these reforms and conditions, Iraq has no value to the PTB. The value is in the ground. So, if the politicians don’t have value above ground but instead are causing the problems, then the PTB have no motivation to help. We see more billions of dollars going into Iraq. We see our troops. So, the objective is to get it done now.
As I’ve stated, IMO the target date is in April, the month 90% the IMF RVs. They are in control. Last year, they told Abadi to get his act together, gave him the green light, and left it up to him. He couldn’t do it, so the US/IMF/UN are back in control getting it done.
Mosul now has an urgency to be partially liberated by April, thus we see the most efficient fighting force, the U.S. Marines doing what they do best, and not slowly down. They will meet the objective on time, secure the needed locations, undeterred.
The Iraqi Army and Kurds will come in to do the long term clean up and control of Mosul. So, the Marines have an urgency to secure Mosul within a time frame of the US/IMF/PTB.
Bidon’s objective was to have the three sects quota government system. It didn’t work, so it’s been replaced by the technocrat system.
