Most impediments to Iran’s accession to the World Trade Organization have been political in nature, says Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh.
He added that following the July nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers and the ensuing lifting of sanctions, Iran is on its way to become a member of the international organization. “The accession process is well underway in line with WTO dynamics,” the minister was quoted as saying by IRNA on Saturday.
He also touched on Iran’s bid to become a member of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization—a specialized agency that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability. “I have assigned my deputy to pave the way for the resumption of cooperation with UNIDO after an eight-year hiatus,” he said.
