Something dangerous is lurking below the market’s surface
An aggressive about face is happening beneath the market’s surface, which seems to have very quickly skewed the odds in favor of bears.
“Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.”
—Carl Sandburg
At the start of last week, inter-market trends continued to suggest risk-on conditions were present. As the week progressed, however, some significant deterioration began to take place. Something looks off here.
Bond yields should have risen significantly more in the context of rebounding oilUSO, +1.68% and inflation expectations TIP, -0.02% In addition, persistence in momentum through small caps IWM, +0.24% and emerging marketsEEM, +0.67% should have pushed the S&P 500 SPY, +0.38% to new breakout levels. Instead, momentum appears to have stalled.
Perhaps more troubling? Take a look below at the price ratio of the PowerShares S&P 500 High Beta Portfolio ETF SPHB, +0.20% relative to the PowerShares S&P 500 Low Volatility Portfolio ETF SPLV, -0.76% You want to see this ratio trend higher in a bull market because it would indicate more cyclical/riskier stocks are being positioned into by new money. Note on the far right an unrelenting string of weak days has occurred as money shifts into lower-volatility/defensive stocks, sending the ratio lower. Read More here:

Thunderhawk: Watch a ‘tsunami’ of unemployment wash over the United States
With the U.S. economy still dealing with a shaky start to the year and companies cutting back on hiring, the latest jobs number came up well shy of expectations at 160,000 in April.
Furthermore, the unemployment rate held steady at 5%. It was expected to ease.

How do I tell my friends that I am very rich while I’m afraid that their behavior towards me will change?
Manfred Kramer: Don’t worry about death or dying, it’s living you should worry about…
Do yourself a favor and do your friends a favor:
DO NOT TELL THEM that you are “very rich”!
What for? Do you want to impress them with your wealth? Why on earth would you want to do THAT? Isn’t it so that you want to be appreciated because of WHO you are and not WHAT you have?
If you tell them you risk being judged as a braggart. Apart from that some people can’t take such news without starting to change their behavior towards you.
They will start seeing you only as moneybags.
You see: There will be occasions where your friends will realize that you’ve considerable financial power on your hands. They will see it in the house you live in or the car you’re driving or the locations you head for vacations.
Still: NEVER ever disclose how much you really have.
This world is a dangerous place and the less people know about your wealth the better for you.
