Militia: How long does it take once a Candidate to become a full member, any ideas? From the progress we see it would appear it is at hand at any time now being that Iraq is fully on the way to becoming a full fledged market economy. Does it take having an internationally recognized currency in place and actively traded globally?
MBAGrad: Militia – I believe that Frank had stated that Iraq was on a “Accelerated” path to full membership in the WTO and that one of the requirements was that Iraq had to move away from its program rate to a valid currency rate.
As for how long it takes to become a full member under a “Accelerated” path, that’s something that I don’t know at the current time but Iraq must be off its program rate prior to becoming a full member of the WTO.

Jay: The only problem I have with this CBI statement is that they HAVE NOT stopped the auctions only lowered them. It does confuse me a bit.
Don961: The one we see and is posted each day Sunday thru Thursday is the currency auction …. Think what this refers to are bond auctions that have been stopped for 91 days
Dnari131: yup Don and IF I’m reading this CBI Bills Securities excel doc correctly, the cbi auction that began last august 8/12/15 matured yesterday 9/3/16 …when you click on the excel sheet via the auction detaills link at the bottom of the page you’ll see the cbi auction history http://www.cbi.iq/index.php?pid=CbiAuctions and if what they’re saying is true it appears they are cancelling the next auction that’s supposed to start 8/16/16…also it appears the last cancellation they had was Oct 2013 Acution #C95…might be off on this but how I see it from viewing this…fwiw
Aggiead77: Just an FYI….this particular auction is not the daily auction that we are used to watching and seeing….it is done on a quarterly basis….I believe it has been cancelled in the past once or twice based on lack of interest by bidders….what they auction here are bonds or something like a bond that has a 91 day maturity date.
