The Ministry of Trade confirmed on Saturday the existence of a comprehensive plan to support small and medium enterprises in cooperation with CBI.
“The General Directorate for Private Sector Development and Growth at the Ministry of Trade is directly concerned with supporting and developing small and medium enterprises,” said the Ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammed Hanoun, to the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
He added, “The directorate has worked to establish real partnerships between the Iraqi private sector and the international private sector, in addition to the significant efforts it is making in the field of supporting small and medium enterprises.”
“The directorate has implemented multiple projects in coordination with the Central Bank of Iraq and in cooperation with Iraqi banks to provide financial and technical support to these projects,” he included.
Hanoun explained that “there is a comprehensive plan in place to support small and medium enterprises, through high-level coordination, whether through the Riyada initiative or within workshops and activities held in cooperation with international organizations.”
“These activities often include seminars and workshops organized by international organizations, aiming to enhance the capabilities and activities of young people and support small and medium-sized enterprises, encouraging young people to engage in these projects instead of seeking public sector jobs within the country.”
