The US Treasury added one line to its sanctions blacklist…The blacklist is Washington’s list of people and companies Americans may not deal with. On Wednesday it put a new warning on a group of Iraqis it says carry Iran’s money.
Baghdad’s media says on two Baghdad banks as well. Until now only American banks had to stay away… Any bank, anywhere, that still deals with them now risks its own access to US dollars…No bank will risk that for one client in Baghdad. All it took was one line…Washington is still in control and so is the Trump Administration…The quieter story is Iraq’s banks being cut off from Iran’s money one bank at a time.
