Baghdad and Riyadh sign two agreements worth $ 40 million

Iraq and Saudi Arabia signed, on Monday, two agreements, one of which is to establish “grain silos” in the province of Diwaniyah, at a value of 25 million dollars, and another to establish “Saqlawiya” hospital, at a value of 15 million dollars, and the minutes of the Islamic and Cultural Committee and the fourth session of the Joint Coordinating Council signed.

The office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that the latter received today a Saudi delegation headed by Minister of Investment Khalid bin Abdul Aziz Al-Falih, and members of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council, indicating that during the meeting there was discussion of strengthening cooperation between the two countries on In addition to discussing the steps taken to further enhance economic cooperation.

According to the statement, the Saudi delegation conveyed the greetings of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Al-Kazemi, and their emphasis on the importance of strengthening joint cooperation in all fields.

The Prime Minister welcomed the increase in trade exchange between the two countries after the opening of the Arar border crossing last month, and the Coordinating Council called for accelerating practical steps in expanding economic relations between Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 The head of the Saudi delegation also stressed that strengthening the existing cooperation will enable the two brotherly countries to face common challenges, whether in the field of confronting the Corona pandemic, or in economic fields that will positively reflect on the well-being and stability of the two countries, as well as strengthening regional peace.

In turn, the Iraqi Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, chaired today the work of the Economic, Investment, Trade, Development and Relief Committee, within the work of the Joint Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council, which began its work, today, Monday in Baghdad, in the presence of a high-level Saudi delegation, headed by the Minister of Trade, Majid Al-Qasabi.

At the beginning of the session, which was attended by a number of ministers and representatives of the relevant authorities, the minister welcomed the guest delegation, appreciating the level of cooperation and the level of bilateral relations between the two countries, indicating that the next phase will witness more cooperation in various fields.

According to a statement of the Ministry of Planning received by Shafaq News Agency, during the meeting a number of issues and files of mutual interest were discussed and discussed, among them the agreement to protect investments between Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, increase the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, review the investment opportunities available in Iraq, and the possibility Entering Saudi companies to invest in Iraq.

The two sides also discussed details of the projects that will be funded from the Saudi loan.

To that, the meeting witnessed the signing of an agreement to establish grain silos in the Diwaniyah governorate, at an amount of $ 25 million. To support the private sector and provide job opportunities, in addition to signing an agreement to establish Saqlawiya Hospital, worth 15 million dollars, to provide medical and health services to the people of Anbar Province.

The two parties also signed, according to the Ministry of Planning’s media, the minutes of the Islamic and Cultural Committee and the fourth session of the Iraqi-Saudi Joint Coordination Council. Source
