Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi telecommunications provider Asiacell introduced on Monday the country’s first Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) service, allowing customers to make and receive voice calls in Wi-Fi-enabled areas, particularly indoors, where cellular signal is weak.
Asiacell indicated that the VoWiFi service solves issues such as network overload and poor signals that have surfaced as a result of increased urbanization in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities, Developing Telecoms reported.
VoWiFi offers users a connection alternative in areas with poor mobile network coverage, such as tall buildings, underground spaces, or rural areas.
VoWiFi also offers an offload alternative for Asiacell when the cellular network becomes crowded.
According to Chra Hussein, Asiacell’s Chief Commercial Officer, users may utilize the VoWiFi service automatically at no additional cost and without having to download a mobile application.
Hussein added that the company started offering this service to fulfill the demands of its consumers in various areas and to provide them with clearer calls with less trouble.
