Iraq oil exports via Turkey
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq’s federal government in Baghdad announced a breakthrough agreement on Thursday to restart crude oil exports from the Kurdistan Region through the Iraq–Turkey pipeline, addressing a long-running dispute dating back 18 years over control of Kurdish oil.
Under the deal, the Iraq’s Oil Ministry will oversee exports of crude produced in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani said the agreement guarantees a fair distribution of revenues, diversifies Iraq’s export routes, and strengthens the country’s investment climate.
The breakthrough follows months of negotiations between Baghdad, Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and international oil companies.
Officials in both Baghdad and Erbil hailed the agreement as a step toward resolving enduring disputes over resource management and revenue sharing.
