The North Oil Company (NOC) has reportedly received the first shipment of crude oil from Basra at its K1 station in Kirkuk, following rehabilitation works and an increase in operational capacity.
The delivery marks the start of crude transfers by tanker trucks from southern Iraq to the north, with unloading operations beginning immediately upon arrival.
Manager Sarmad Mohammed told the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the K1 facility now has a handling capacity of up to 90,000 barrels per day, with continuous arrivals and unloading of tanker shipments.
Officials said the crude will be pumped onward to the Saralu station northwest of Kirkuk, before being exported via Turkey’s Ceyhan port (pictured).
