Representatives call on the government to allocate a financial allocation for the Faw port project

Baghdad / NINA / Representatives of the Al-Fateh Alliance blocs called on the government to monitor a financial allocation for the large Faw port project, coinciding with the imminent approval of the federal budget for 2021, noting that the project needs $ 8 billion, but so far only $ 2.5 billion has been spent on it.

MP Faleh Khazali said in a joint press conference that “there is no seriousness on the part of successive governments to support this project except in 2019, as there was an initiative to support the project by the House of Representatives at an amount of $ 400 billion and good steps have been completed in this project.”

He added, “The completion of the project will enhance and maximize the state’s revenues by $ 5 billion annually, as well as enhance the economic position of the Iraqi state, in addition to employing 50,000 workers from Basra Governorate and the Iraqi people.”

Parliament Presidency agrees to direct a parliamentary question to the Finance and Planning Ministers about the reform program

Today, Saturday, September 5, 2020, the Presidency of the House of Representatives agreed to the request of Representative Muhammad Sahib Al-Darraji to direct an oral question to the Ministers of Finance and Planning, to answer the reasons for the failure to reach the reform paper stipulated in the recent lending law, provided that they are answered in a session Tuesday or next Thursday.

The House of Representatives held the first session of the first legislative term for the third legislative year, headed by Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, and the presence of 169 deputies.

Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi announced that the names of the representatives present at the House of Representatives session for today will be published on the parliament’s official website.

The Saeron Parliamentary Bloc pledged that the priority of its legislative work would be everything related to the holding of early elections, the most important of which is the completion of the multi-constituency schedule for the election law and the Federal Court law, in addition to other important laws.

He added, “The priority will be in what concerns our legislative work, everything related to the holding of early elections, the most important of which is the completion of the schedule of the multi-district elections law and the Federal Court law, in addition to other laws that the government needs to improve services.”

Al-Tarfi continued, “We will work with partners to activate the role of the parliament in fighting corruption and open all files that hover around suspicions. There is no immunity to any corrupt person, regardless of his identity or affiliation, and we will also work to achieve the demands of peaceful protesters in accordance with the laws.”
