Iraq Ranks 32 Among The Largest Holders Of US Treasury Bonds

The treasury said in its latest table, “Iraq rose two ranks to reach the 32nd rank among the countries with the largest possession of US treasury bonds, of the 38 countries listed in the table for countries with possessions of more than 32 billion dollars.”
And she added, “Iraq’s possession of these bonds amounted to $36.9 billion for the month of September, up by 3.65 percent from August of 2022, and up by 105 percent from the same month of last year 2021.”
She pointed out that “Iraq was the fourth largest Arab country after Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE, while Japan came at the top of the countries with the largest possession of these bonds, followed by China second and the United Kingdom third,” indicating that the total bonds of the countries of the world amounted to 7 trillion and 296 billion dollars. And the official news agency stated, “Iraq, represented by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning, Maher Johan, signed with the American side, represented by the President of the US Agency for International Development, Alice Janes, the executive agreement for the development goals grant.”
She added, “The signing of the agreement took place in the presence of the Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, and the US Ambassador, Elena Romansky.”
In turn, Tamim said in a press conference, “Development is the mainstay of relations between Iraq and the United States, and we will move forward towards supporting tracks in accordance with Iraq’s development vision 2030, after the relations between the two countries witnessed a lot of development based on common interests in many fields and at the forefront of them.” economic fields.
He pointed out that “our meeting today comes in celebration of the joint signing of the executive agreement for the development goals grant between the Republic of Iraq, represented by the Ministry of Planning, and the United States of America, represented by the US Agency for International Development.”
He continued, “The signing of the agreement coincided with the first steps for our new government to start its work, as the ministerial curriculum for this government adopted a realistic plan that can be implemented by ministries, independent bodies, and local governments, with a joint responsibility for the government structure in all its aspects.
