subgirl says to SRW():Exclusive: Parts freed so far in Mosul explained on map

An updated version of Mosul’s map showing the latest developments in the battle to oust ISIS from occupied districts in the city’s right bank has been obtained by The Baghdad Post on Tuesday.

On the map, the spots marked in green represent the previously ISIS-held areas that have been liberated.

As the map shows, the white spots represent the parts of the war-torn city where ISIS is still controlling.

In Mosul, there are areas still witnessing clashes between the Iraqi forces, backed by international coalition, and ISIS terrorists. They are marked in orange on the map.

Only seven out of 54 neighborhoods have not liberated in Mosul’s right bank, a local official in Nineveh Governorate confirmed on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, ISIS has executed seven of its top leaders in Mosul upon their attempt to escape Mosul battles, a security source said.

In a statement, the Center said it renews its commitment to neutrality when covering stories of the battles and the other issues. Our aim is nothing but the truth, the statement concluded.

Publishing the maps relating to the progress of the Iraqi forces in Mosul is done after contacts with multiple military sources and local officials, it added.

Iraqi Forces launched a major offensive on 19th of February to retake the western part of Mosul after declaring total control of the eastern part of the city on 24th of January as part of the military operations to liberate the city that started on 17th of October 2016.

SRW says to subgirl():I have a feeling that the remainder of this fight is not going to be pretty. Who knows what buildings they have wired for explosives and the civilians held as hostages. This is gonna get ugly. I pray for the militaries safety and the civilians still held in those areas..

subgirl says to SRW():right as well as I do too… glad our special forces are there and they know how to handle the bombs…

subgirl says to SRW():A water bridge over the Tigris to reach the two parts of Mosul

A new bridge unites Mosul as Iraqi forces prepare for a final attack

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Iraqi military engineers built a new circular bridge across the Tigris on Tuesday to reach the city’s outskirts to facilitate the deployment of troops ahead of a recent offensive to oust the Islamic state.

The US-led coalition bombed the five bridges linking the two sides of the Tigris river to block militant movements in the early stages of the campaign to restore Mosul last year.

Seven months later, Iraqi forces managed to expel the organization from all of the city except for a pocket in the western part of the Old City where the militants are expected to fight their last fight.

The Old City is expected to be the most complex battlefield in the battle to date.

Colonel Haytham al-Taei told Reuters the floating bridge was important for deploying reinforcements in the western sector quickly in order to properly mobilize troops to invade the Old City soon.

He said the bridge in the Hawi area of the church would save fleeing civilians a long journey to the nearest crossing point about 30 km south of Mosul.

The United Nations said last week that as many as 200,000 more people may be displaced as Iraqi forces enter the rest of the city.

Militants are effectively holding hundreds of thousands of civilians hostage and taking human shields to slow down troop advances.

AnimatedRock says():So, I’ve been reading a bunch of stuff all day, and I’m pretty sure I’ve got the basis of how this RV works, if they RV and dont RD, which we’re all praying for

AnimatedRock says():Some of the finance people in various meetings that we catch a glimpse at have been stating that they should “float” the rate

AnimatedRock says():So I started looking up the difference in a “floated” rate vs the “program” rate I’ve been hearing about

AnimatedRock says():Well floating rates are based on supply and demand, and program rates, or pegged rates are based off where the currency can be set against solid holdings of hard exchange, and are backed by them, in Iraq’s case, currently the foreign currency reserves in the ICB

AnimatedRock says():So, in this case, if they RV’d their currency based off their current “pegged rate” system, they would not have enough hard currency to back their released funds. And they would be worse off than they are now

AnimatedRock says():BUT

AnimatedRock says():IQD is not a forex currency, and can’t be, because until recently, there has not been the basis for a monetary system, or reform

AnimatedRock says():So their currency HAS to have it’s value derived from their backing system, in lieu of having any specifically stated monetary policy or board of finance, or banking regulations to regulate it

AnimatedRock says():International law requires it

AnimatedRock says():But, if they move to a “floated” currency, which is based on supply and demand of currency. Economic factors come in, such as exports, economy, debt to income ratio, credit rating, etc

AnimatedRock says():In order to do this, they have to open up the country to international investors, have deals in place to pay off debt, and have an economic plan for infrastructure, commercialism, exports, trade regulation and taxation

AnimatedRock says():once all those are in place, they would have to negotiate the rate of their exports, in this case, oil, with OPEC

AnimatedRock says():Once finding the agreed upon rate, they would have to go to the UN, and have their “oil income to food only” restrictions taken away, and allow them to actually begin to make profit off of their oil revenue

AnimatedRock says():Once all that is settled, they need to figure out which currency they want to “float” their currency against

AnimatedRock says():I forgot to add security of their country into the list of things they would need to move to floated currency

AnimatedRock says():Once all that is said and done, if they decide to float their currency off say, the dollar, they are probably going to have deals set up with the country that regulates the dollar (I.E. – the US), or they could float it off both the dollar and the Euro, based off how high of trade percentages they estimated they would do with each country

AnimatedRock says():Once that is established, they take the combined figures, and come up with a number that they believe their economy can sustain, (IE – 1 IQD = $X) and then they set up their monetary system to back that number off of income from taxes, tourism, agriculture, and exports, and their budget, then present that to FOREX

AnimatedRock says():That is the number that then denominates how much their currency is actually worth on the international market, and it will remain that number as long as they can back it with their economy

AnimatedRock says():that’s the only way I can see an RV happening from my research without them redenominating the currency. It will all go off their FOREX number they can achieve with their economy

AnimatedRock says():the cool part is, in the last 30 days, how many of those things have we seen happen?
JR67 says to AnimatedRock():s51

AnimatedRock says():Mind you, a ton of that is really broken down to layman terms, but the idea is pretty solid

AnimatedRock says():Right there with you JR67
JR67 says to AnimatedRock():!0-4

subgirl says():well guess it is time to say goodnight… 🙂 hope you all have a great night! come on CBI!!!
