E10 RON95, the new ethanol fuel replacing the petroleum-based gasoline RON95, was priced at VND22,330 (US$0.85) Thursday, down 5.6% from a week ago.
The price of the fuel was reported by suppliers as the Ministry of Finance has not released official retail prices. E10, a biofuel made by blending fuel ethanol with mineral gasoline, was sold nationwide starting June 1.
Biofuel E5 RON92 fell 6.3% to VND21,780. Diesel declined 2.9% to VND26,860.
Globally the petroleum market in recent days had been affected by talks between the U.S. and Iran, as well as the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

These factors caused global petroleum prices to decline compared with seven days earlier. Each barrel of RON 92, used to blend E5 RON 92 gasoline, fell 7.5% to $116.8, while diesel dropped 3.3% to $141.9. Mazut also declined 2.3% to $640 per ton.
A draft government resolution on the roadmap for using E10 biofuel gasoline is currently being appraised by the Ministry of Justice.
Under the draft, E10 RON95 gasoline is defined as a common consumer product for which the state announces a base petroleum price, replacing RON 95-III mineral gasoline. After the draft resolution is issued, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance will announce the base price for E10 RON95 gasoline.
In fact, the biofuel roadmap was developed by regulators years ago. Since 2018, Vietnam has sold E5 RON92 gasoline nationwide. In August 2025, E10 was piloted in several localities before being expanded nationwide.
At a government press conference on Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said the ministry would conduct surprise inspections of fuel businesses and blending facilities to ensure the consistent quality of E10 gasoline.
