Iraq Issued 180 New Licences for Industrial Projects in September

The Directorate of Industrial Development under Iraq’s Ministry of Industry and Minerals has announced the issuance of 180 preliminary licences for new industrial projects during September, as part of its ongoing efforts to support the private sector and boost industrial activity across the provinces.

Director General Dr. Ali Ibrahim Jinaan stated that the new licences cover a wide range of sectors, including food, chemical, metal, construction, textile, and engineering industries.

He noted that Baghdad ranked first with 41 licences, followed by Basra and Nineveh with 20 each, and Anbar with 17. Other licences were distributed among the provinces of Karbala, Salah al-Din, Najaf, Wasit, Diyala, Babil, Kirkuk, Diwaniyah, Maysan, and Muthanna.

The Directorate also issued 97 land allocation letters for the construction of new industrial projects during the same month, covering various industries and provinces.

Dr. Jinaan added that the Directorate continues to provide specialised services to industrialists through the “Ur” government portal, including issuing completion certificates for qualified projects under the Industrial Investment Law No. (20) of 1998, renewing industrial IDs, reactivating licences, and conducting field inspections.
