Iraq allocates 500 billion Dinars to support farmers across all provinces Iraqi News

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq’s Ministry of Commerce announced today, Monday (September 15, 2025), that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has approved the allocation of 500 billion Iraqi Dinars to support farmers across all provinces. This initiative is a direct response to the government’s strategic focus on boosting the agricultural sector and ensuring national food security.

According to a statement from the Ministry’s media office, Minister of Commerce Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairi confirmed that this decision aligns with the government’s vision to empower farmers and provide the necessary support for the agricultural sector to thrive. The General Company for Grain Trading, headed by Haider Al-Karawi, will now work with relevant parties to develop fair and transparent mechanisms to ensure the funds reach all eligible farmers throughout the country.

The financial support is a crucial step to enhance farmers’ confidence in state programs and encourage them to increase production and expand cultivated land. By strengthening the agricultural sector, Iraq aims to boost its self-sufficiency and stabilize the local market, as part of a broader plan to diversify the economy away from its primary reliance on oil revenues.
