Iraq, Egypt call for joint action to address regional challenges Iraqi News

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized the importance of activating joint Arab and Islamic action structures to overcome challenges.

During their phone conversation on Thursday, the two leaders addressed the latest developments in the region following the Israeli attack that targeted Hamas officials on Tuesday in the Qatari capital, Doha, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The two sides highlighted the need to stop Israel’s ongoing war on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and condemned the attacks targeting Arab countries.

The discussions focused on the significance of coordinating stances and ongoing discussions to achieve a common position at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha next Monday.

Last Tuesday, Israel launched an attack on Hamas officials in Qatar, expanding its military operations throughout the Middle East to include the Gulf state, where the Palestinian party has long had a political base.

Qatar, which has worked as a mediator alongside Egypt in negotiations for a cease-fire in the Gaza conflict, condemned the Israeli air strike and described it as a flagrant violation of international law.

Hamas officials on the ceasefire negotiation team avoided the strike, which followed an evacuation order in Gaza, where Israel is launching an operation to eradicate the group and displace Palestinians.
