Iraqi PM, Qatari Emir discuss Israeli strikes Iraqi News

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani held a phone call with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in which he condemned Israel’s recent air strikes on Doha and warned of the risks of regional escalation.

According to a statement from Al-Sudani’s office, the prime minister described the attack as a “sinful aggression” and a “blatant violation” of Qatar’s sovereignty, as well as international law and the UN Charter.

Al-Sudani cautioned that the strike marked a dangerous escalation that could destabilize the wider Middle East and threaten international security.

Iraq’s Prime Minister reaffirmed Iraq’s solidarity with Qatar, pledging support for the Gulf state’s security and the safety of its people. He urged the international community to take a “responsible stance” in the face of what he called Israeli attempts to expand the conflict.

Both leaders agreed on the need for Arab and Islamic nations to coordinate a collective response.

Al-Sudani said Iraq, in its capacity as current chair of the Arab League Summit, has called for an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers. He added that Iraq is also working to convene a broader gathering of Arab and Islamic leaders and representatives on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York later this month.

The conversation underscores growing regional concerns over the fallout from Israel’s widening military operations, which have drawn sharp criticism from several Arab and Islamic countries following the strikes in Doha.
