Samson: Former health ministry officials have been jailed for stealing more than six billion dollars

The agency revealed the integrity of the details of the judgments against three former officials in the Ministry of Health; for stealing more than six billion dinars, indicating that the convicted seized the money after they adopted false lists, and the payment of salaries to the elements of protection (fictitious).

The Investigations Department of the Commission, in the details of the case investigated and referred to the judiciary, indicated that the fugitive convicts (former Inspector of the Office of the Technical Agent of the Ministry, Director of the Finance Department and the former Human Resources Management Section of the Administrative and Financial Department) Which are working, pointing out to the adoption of false lists for the protection of imaginary and pay their salaries without taking into account the instructions and controls on the disbursement; which led to theft and misappropriation of public funds amounted to (6.500 billion) billion dinars.

She added that the Criminal Court on Integrity Cases in Baghdad, after reviewing the statements of the legal representatives of the Ministries of Health and Interior, who requested the complaint against the defendants, in addition to the administrative investigation record, which proved the accused and the escape of the trial of the defendants, Of the Penal Code and in terms of articles 47, 48 and 49, and sentenced in absentia to each of them to seven years’ imprisonment.

The verdict included issuing an arrest warrant, conducting a fundamental search for the convicted, supporting the seizure of his movable and immovable property, as well as keeping the injured party (the Ministries of Health and Interior) with the right to seek compensation before the civil courts. In February, the Board announced that the same court had sentenced a member of the Ministry of Health to seven years’ imprisonment in absentia in the same case.   LINK
