Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani met in Baghdad on Wednesday with the Swiss Ambassador to Iraq, Daniel Hunn, and the Swedish Ambassador, Jörgen Lindström, accompanied by senior representatives from Linxon, including its Executive Director and the company’s Head for Asia and the Middle East.
The Prime Minister welcomed the presence of international, particularly European, companies in Iraq, highlighting the country’s stability and the availability of laws that support local and foreign investment. He noted Iraq’s ongoing reconstruction and development across multiple sectors, especially energy, which requires advanced technologies available through Swiss and Swedish expertise.
The ambassadors expressed their countries’ readiness to expand cooperation with Iraq and confirmed the interest of energy companies from Switzerland and Sweden in participating in national projects.
The meeting also reviewed Linxon’s ongoing projects in Iraq since 2018, including maintenance of power stations in Baghdad. Al-Sudani instructed that a roadmap be developed to identify key projects suitable for implementation by Swiss and Swedish energy firms.
Linxon is a joint venture between AtkinsRéalis (formerly SNC Lavalin) and Hitachi Energy.
