On Sunday Iraq’s deputy prime minister, Mohammed Ali Tamim, said on state media that the dinar’s street price will come very close to the official rate,
and added: “I take responsibility for these words.”
His reason is cash. Washington, he said, has decided to send $3 billion over 2 months, in 6 loads. Baghdad’s main exchanges closed Sunday at 168,300 IQD for $100, against the bank’s 152,000.
