Saudi firm signs deal with Iraq to boost power efficiency at Hilla plant Iraqi News

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity signed a memorandum of cooperation on Saturday with Saudi Arabia’s Continuous Nitrogen Services to boost efficiency and performance at the country’s power plants, the ministry said in a statement.

The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the Iraq Investment Conference in Baghdad, covers oil residue treatment at the Khayrat power station in Karbala, reuse of industrial water at the Hilla 2 facility, advanced water treatment at plants nationwide, and nitrogen-based pipeline cleaning at the Musayyib gas station to reduce breakdowns and improve reliability.

The memorandum was signed in the presence of Iraq’s Electricity Minister Ziad Ali Fadel and Saudi Assistant Minister of Investment Ibrahim bin Youssef Al-Mubarak. Senior officials from both sides, including Iraqi ministry representatives and the Saudi company’s Iraq branch manager, also attended the ceremony.

The deal highlights growing Saudi investment in Iraq’s energy infrastructure as Riyadh deepens economic ties with Baghdad. Saudi firms have been increasingly active in power and industrial projects, positioning themselves as long-term partners in efforts to modernize Iraq’s electricity sector.
