US authorizes $100 million military equipment sale to Iraq Iraqi News

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The US State Department has authorized a possible deal to sell foreign military equipment to Iraq, including a communications and signal repeater system worth approximately $100 million.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the planned sale will strengthen Iraq’s command and control capabilities, bolstering its defense against regional threats.

The statement mentioned that Iraq requested wireless communications equipment, signal repeater and amplifier systems, as well as training, technical and logistical assistance, and associated infrastructure to aid in the security of its forces’ communications.

The State Department also announced that it had approved the $100 million supply of communications and radio systems to Iraq.

The agreement strengthens Iraq’s ability to secure its borders, energy infrastructure, and population while advancing US security objectives, emphasizing that it would neither endanger nor destabilize countries in the region.

The DSCA also emphasized that it sent the required sales certification to Congress on Thursday.
