Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) — Iraq’s Ministry of Transport has received proposals from four international consortiums to redevelop Baghdad International Airport under a long-term public-private partnership.
One bid was submitted by Saudi Arabia’s Asyad Holdings, a family-owned investment group with interests in construction, infrastructure, and logistics, alongside Top International Engineering Corporation Arabia, part of China’s Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group.
Another consortium includes Turkey’s YDA İnşaat, a leading builder of airports and large-scale infrastructure, Bahrain’s Lamar Holding, an investment firm active in PPP projects across the Gulf, and daa, the Dublin Airport Authority, which manages airports in Ireland.
The third bid came from the UK’s ERG International, part of the Turkish-origin ERG Group that develops major transport projects, partnered with Turkey’s Terminal Yapı and ERG İnşaat.
The fourth bid was lodged by Corporación América Airports, a Luxembourg-based operator that manages more than 50 airports across Latin America and Europe, together with Iraq’s Amwaj International.
The winning consortium will secure a 25-year concession to overhaul airport infrastructure, construct a new passenger terminal, and manage operations and maintenance.
Financial bids will be opened on October 16, 2025, with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) acting as advisor to the government.
Iraq had earlier shortlisted ten consortiums for the project, with final proposals submitted last month. The redevelopment is seen as a key step in modernizing the country’s main aviation hub and expanding its role as a regional gateway.
