Crypto exchange announces phased shutdown by 2026 Crypto News

Crypto exchange Bit.com has begun a three-step shutdown of its operations, set to conclude on March 31, 2026.

According to an announcement shared across its social media channels on Dec. 27, 2025, the shutdown is a part of a business restructuring plan.

The exchange launched what it calls a “User Asset Migration Plan” to ensure a withdrawal process for customers.

What is Bit.com?

Bit.com was launched in August 2020 by Matrixport, a digital asset platform founded by Bitmain co-founder Jihan Wu.

Designed for institutional and professional traders, the exchange offered spot, futures and options trading, as well as cloud mining and structured financial products.

Positioned as a secure and compliant platform within the Matrixport ecosystem, Bit.com integrated trading, lending and custody services.

Bit.com launches phased shutdown until March 2026

Bit.com said it would complete all transparent and traceable migration of user assets within a clear time window, pledging equal treatment for all account types.

The exchange encouraged users to move their assets through direct withdrawals or migrate to its partner platform, Matrixport, before the final deadline.

Bit.com has suspended new user registrations effective immediately, although existing users can still log in, view their assets, and withdraw funds.

The platform said standard withdrawal requests will be processed within 30 minutes to 24 hours, with priority verification available through customer service for any delays longer than one business day.

More News:

Spot trading will remain active until Jan. 31, 2026, after which all trading functions will cease.

Users can convert their holdings to Tether (USDT) or withdraw directly before that date. Any remaining small non-USDT assets will be automatically converted to USDT at closing prices, except for currencies in the observation area, which must be withdrawn manually.

The exchange has already disabled new contract trading positions, allowing only the closure of existing ones.

Bit.com’s cloud computing power services will terminate on Jan. 25, 2026, with all mining income settled by that date. Users with active cloud mining orders will receive refunds for unfulfilled service days from Jan. 25 through their original contract expiry dates.

Meanwhile, financial product income calculations will continue until Jan. 30, 2026, after which users will need to manually withdraw assets from supported currencies via the app.

Next steps for Bit.com users

Bit.com users can withdraw funds normally through Jan. 31, 2026. From Feb. 1, any remaining assets will be moved to a backup station system, where users can only log in and withdraw funds.

The exchange clarified that assets “will not be cleared, confiscated, or otherwise disposed of” during this phase. Mar. 31 marks the final date for customers to request withdrawals via the backup station’s customer service channels.

Bit.com also warned users to remain vigilant against potential phishing attempts and impersonation scams exploiting the shutdown. Official representatives will never request passwords, SMS codes, mnemonic phrases, or private keys, nor ask users to transfer funds to “security accounts.”
