The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has successfully organized the Iraq Knowledge Sharing Conference 2025 at the Ministry of Planning in Baghdad, with the participation of Iraqi government representatives, experts, and alumni of training programs in Korea.
The conference aimed to strengthen the exchange of expertise and knowledge gained in Korea and apply it to support sustainable development in Iraq.
Dr. Saher Abdul Kazem Mahdi, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry, emphasized that the forum represents a fruitful outcome of the partnership with Korea, which has contributed to significant developmental activities in the fields of education, health, and capacity building.
Meanwhile, Mr. CHON, Gyong Shik, KOICA’s Country Director in Iraq, described the event as “a meaningful platform for exchanging knowledge and building capacity, contributing to the development of Iraq’s policy frameworks and health information systems.”
The event also featured presentations delivered by Ms. Ibtisam Al-Khafaji from KOICA and Dr. Lujain Mustafa from the Ministry of Planning. Their sessions showcased the proposed training programs and shared experiences in capacity building, underlining their role in advancing skills and transferring knowledge to support the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Since opening its office in Iraq in 2003, KOICA has invested over $400 million across 74 projects in health, education, and governance. In addition, more than 5,000 Iraqi officials have received training in Korea, making KOICA a key partner in Iraq’s journey toward sustainable development.
