Iraqi National Security Advisor, UK Envoy Discuss Security, Political Developments

ERBIL — Iraq’s National Security Advisor Qasem al-Araji on Sunday received UK Ambassador Mark Bryson-Richardson in Baghdad where they discussed the latest political and security developments.

The Iraqi National Security Advisor pointed out that Baghdad and London are working together to dry up the financial and media resources of terrorism in the region.

They also exchanged views on the training mission for the Iraqi armed forces as well as the conditions of al-Hol camp in northeast of Syria, Iraqi reports said.

Araji reaffirmed that Iraq upholds dialogue as a means to address the issues in the region, noting that it is willing to continue to cooperate with the international community to deter terrorism.

The UK ambassador, in return, reiterated his country’s commitment to supporting Iraq in the fight against the Islamic State (IS) and providing assistance as well as trainings to the Iraqi forces.

During a similar meeting between Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi and US Ambassador Mathew Tueller in the capital city earlier the day, relations between Iraq and the United States and ways to enhance cooperations in the fields of economy and security were discussed.
