IS Leader Responsible for Preparing Suicide Bombers Killed in Mosul
A source from Iraqi federal police said on Saturday that they have stormed al-Zanjili and al-Shifa districts in west Mosul for the second time, in a bid to rescue civilians trapped in Old Mosul’s front line.
Colonel Khudair Saleh, an officer from the Iraqi federal police told BasNews “the federal police forces began for the second time to break into the areas of Zinjili and Shifa in central Mosul which are within the scope of federal police forces’ responsibility.”
Saleh said “the federal police forces have penetrated into the two regions and killed one of the most prominent Islamic State (IS) leaders known as Abu Najim Hafiz al-Azraq.”
Abu Najim was in charge of preparing the suicide bombers to attack the security forces in the Old Mosul area, he said.
He added that the police forces have thrusted into the IS lines of resistance and killed a number of suicide bombers with arresting four others near the Zinjili gas plant.
He noted that the federal police forces are trying to open safe corridors for the exit of the families trapped in those neighborhoods.
